Anything but this shit!!

By time you bought more CDs. I think that I would rather have my genitals slowly destroyed with an electic sander than listen to all this shit! Recommended by Paulmagoo , 2000/08/11.

The boy with the Arab Strap

By Belle and Sebastian. Try fitting this into a genre - bet you can't. A sort of folk, jazz, blues, prog. rock, classical fusion - the most pioneering thing to have come outof Dundee since the good ship 'Discovery.' The lead singer's voice is so flooded with soul he'd be apt to succeed in the fish trade. (Or maybe that should be sole?...) A band who have never appeared in public, never given an interview or released a single: yet this album won the Mercury music prize in early 1999, and has sold 300,000 copies. Try it, you might like it... Recommended by Matt , 2000/04/24.

The Unforgetable Fire

By U2. The album that propelled the group, U2, forward from the raw energy of "Boy", the spiritual wrestling in "October", and the political anthems of "War". Now the Irish boys take a look at America, in the characters of Martin Luther King and Elvis. Both Royal figures, they shared early, tragic deaths. Kins from the bullet of hate and Elvis from the media circus and fame that distroyed his personal life. U2 also touches on issues of drug use, in the song "Bad", a lament of a friend unable to break the chains of addiction. The album also boasts a lyrical developement, experimenting with free association in songs and stream of conscience writing, leaving a microphone on as Bono weaves images of summer into the musical backdrop crafted by Mullen, The Edge, and Clayton. Here's one example of the poetry found in the song "A Sort of Homecomming." I always play this one before returning back to King of Prussia, especialy now being an extra long way from home! And you know it's time to go Through the sleet and driving snow Across the fields of mourning Light in the distance And you hunger for the time Time to heal, desire, time And your earth moves beneath Your own dream landscape Oh, oh, oh... On borderland we run... I'll be there I'll be there... Tonight A high road A high road out from here The city walls are all come down The dust, a smoke screen all around See faces ploughed like fields that once Gave no resistance And we live by the side of the road On the side of a hill As the valley explode Dislocated, suffocated The land grows weary of its own Oh, oh, oh...on borderland we run... And still we run We run and don't look back I'll be there I'll be there Tonight Tonight I'll be there tonight...I believe I'll be there...somehow I'll be there...tonight Tonight The wind will crack in winter time This bomb-blast lightning waltz No spoken words, just a scream... Tonight we'll build a bridge Across the sea and land See the sky, the burning rain She will die and live again Tonight well, it's one of my favorite albums...give it a listen!site with all u2 lyrics Recommended by Ian , 2000/03/23.
